"When it appears that Jazz’s new pot-bellied pig has been poisoned, it’s clearly a second case for detectives-in-training Milo and Jazz. This time the advice given by their mentor, Dash Marlowe, is to “look for patterns.” The initial clues point to Mrs. Budge, whose flower beds have been repeatedly disturbed, or class clown Gordy, but could “patterns” indicate someone else? Vinnie Penna and Chantale Hosein are true to their original Milo and Jazz characterizations—enthusiastic, questioning, and childlike. They also take new characters in stride—an imperious older sister, a deep-voiced Gordy, and a younger brother. Penna and Hosein set a fast pace that fits the determined duo. Additional short mysteries from Dash Marlowe conclude the episode." A.R. © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2012]

"Milo and his detective pal Jasmyne (Jazz) are at it again in this second installment of Lewis B. Montgomery’s chapter-book series for young readers. This time, the mystery surrounds Jazz’s new pet pig that keeps getting sick despite friends’ best efforts to keep it from eating anything harmful. Milo’s younger brother, Ethan, becomes attached to the porcine pet and tags along as Milo and Jazz develop a list of possible suspects, motives, and possible solutions to this mystery. Along with some helpful tips from the Dash Marlowe detective kit, Milo and Jazz, who are fast on their way to becoming super-sleuths, eventually discover the surprising culprit and solve the case. Vinnie Penna and Chantale Hossein contribute the voices of Milo and Jazz as well as the other characters in this upbeat mystery, making this a fun version that fans of the series will enjoy. For school and public library collections." –Amy Joslyn, Fairport Public Library, NY
